    Hey guys!

Every new school year I start out by telling myself "this year I'm going to be healthy!" However, I get home from school hungry and the easiest snack seems to be slapping some nutella onto a piece of bread. I'm sure I'm not the only person to have this problem, so here are some EXTREMELY simple healthy snack recipes.

    Enjoy!

    Recipe Number One:

    Ingredients:
    1. Rice cakes
    2. Honey
    3. Crumbled Hazelnut
    4. Walnuts
    5. Pumpkin Seeds
(For all the recipes you can change the toppings according to your taste and what you have available!)

Now that you've got everything, just spread the honey onto the rice cake, sprinkle your nuts on top, and bite in!

    Recipe Number Two:
    Ingredients:
    1. Yogurt (any kind, but greek yogurt is the healthiest)
    2. Honey
    3. Crumbled Hazelnut
    4. Ground Pistachio
    5. Raisins
    6. Cinnamon

Yup, you guessed it, just mix all the ingredients in a bowl and enjoy a healthy-under2minutespreparation-snack!

    Recipe Number Three:

    Ingredients:
    1. Jar
    2. Yogurt
    3. Honey
    4. Banana
    5. Cinnamon
I guess I'm cheating because this one is very similar to the previous one...oops! But what I like to do is prepare this in advance, put everything in the jar, shake it up and leave it in the fridge so that when I get back from school I have a fresh and healthy snack awaiting me!

    Hey guys!
It's time for my second 'Sunday Says'!

I'm sure that almost everybody that has tumblr will have seen this quote. The first few times I saw it on my dashboard I didn't really pay much attention to its meaning, but now that I've thought about it more, I actually find it really inspiring.

To me, this quote is saying that you have to put work into your goals if you want to achieve them. You can't just dream of something and expect it to be handed to you. You also can't focus all your energy on material things, or the thoughts and ideas and goals that live in your head will die out. Everyday you need to spend a bit of time nurturing your mind and working towards achieving the things that you want.

For me, this relates to this blog. I've wanted to start a blog for a long time, but I always put it off. It became this idea that was just living at the back of my mind and I kept telling myself, "when it's the right time you'll do it". I was wrong. If you want something, you have to be the one that creates a 'right time', you can't wait for a magic invitation. Now this idea is a material thing, but that's not enough. I have to keep working at it, I have to keep 'watering my mental plants' to come up with new ideas and not let this die out.

What's a goal that you want to achieve that you've been putting off?

    5:02 PM

    Hey guys!

Autumn is officially upon us which means a new season has begun. This brings a change in weather, but, more importantly, also a change in beauty and fashion necessities. So here are my 2014 fall beauty must haves:

    1) My first essential product for fall is a primer because I really need my makeup to stay on my skin the whole day at school. The one I've been loving lately is the "DHC Velvet Skin Coat". This is a really good product because a little goes a long way, it makes my skin feel super soft (like velvet..duh!) and it keeps my makeup on for the whole school day.

    2) To put on top of the primer I love BB cream. I think BB cream is better than foundation in autumn because it's one of those seasons that has both warm and cold days. On more summery-like days (which where you live might not be common in fall, but here we've been having quite a lot) it's good because it's lightweight and it blends better into the skin. This way it won't make your face feel too heavy or like it's melting off. However it's also perfect for colder days because it's moisturising and it won't dry out your skin like foundation often does. The one I've been using, and really enjoying, is the Aveeno Clear Complexion BB Cream. It blends really well, it's very moisturising, it's oil free and it has spf protection. What more could a girl want?

    3) School. School. School. Why do you do this to me? How do you expect me to look good if I have to wake up at dawn? Highlighting concealers. I'm telling you girls, it's the only way to survive the school season. The one I've been loving is a classic that everybody has already talked about, and for good reasons: L'Oreal Lumi Magique. This concealer is amazing! It brightens up your under eye instantly and actually makes it look like you got a decent amount of sleep (which we all know you didn't).

    4) I like to keep my eyes very simple, especially when I have school, but I always pop on a neutral eye shadow. Lately I've been loving the Mac matte eyeshadow in Quarry. It's a nice neutral purple that's easy to wear but reminds me of autumn. Since I'm always in a rush in the morning, I usually only wear this on my eyes. I pat it evenly all over the lid, blend a little extra in the crease for definition, and also bring it down to line the bottom part of my eyes. It's super easy to do and I think it looks so much nicer than just a plain lid.

On the eyes it comes out less purple and more grey-toned, so it's more neutral than it actually seems here.

    5) Finally the most fun part: the lips. First thing first, lip balm. This is such an important step because autumn is when lips start to chap and moisturising them not only makes them healthier, but also lets lipstick apply so much better. My all time favourite lip balm is the Vaseline Lip Therapy in cherry. This product is amazing. I'm not kidding. I have been using it since last year and I still haven't ran out of it and my lips have never chapped.
Now that our lips are ready let's move on to the best bit: lipstick. Autumn is all about the bold berry lip, but to be honest I don't wear it quite often. I love it, but I'm really scared that it's a bit too much, especially for a daily use. However, when I do decide to rock it, I usually wear a lipstick from the brand Pupa in the shade "Diva's Rouge".

Happiness is Bravery | Sunday Says

    Hello!

I've decided to start a new "series" on this blog called, "Sunday Says" where every sunday I can post a little quote. These can be quotes that have been inspiring me lately or just motivational words to help you start your week right.

    -Vivian, Pushing Daisies

I found this quote on tumblr a couple of days ago and it has stuck in my brain since then (and has also helped inspire "Sunday Says"). It spoke to me on a personal level because I think it made me realise that I shouldn't expect happiness to come right away.

To be honest, I'm not in one of the happiest phases in my life (I don't think many people are in high school) and I think that during the course of the last year I got too used to this feeling of "emptiness". I think that part of me stopped trying as hard as it could and I think that led me to be even more unhappy. Lately, however,  I've been trying to fight that feeling.

I've started this school year with more ambitions (both socially and academically) and I'm proud of myself for that, but last night my brain was buzzing with too many thoughts and I started to push myself back into that hole of self pity. I started telling myself that the efforts I had been putting in weren't enough.

This quote really helped me realise that I was being stupid. Everything you're doing, every baby step you're taking, towards finding your happiness is a huge thing. It takes courage to be happy because finding happiness means leaving behind another feeling, one that may have become your comfort zone in the mean time.

Finding happiness can be a slow process, and you shouldn't blame yourself if you can't find it right away. Remember you're being brave, and that's already a huge goal to accomplish.

    the notebooks I made(:

Monday was my first day of school which meant waking up early and panicking about what to wear. And though going to school isn't my favourite activity, it also brings around some good news: back to school shopping. I'm a sucker for stationary and so I usually go crazy and buy way too many things that I never end up using. This year I decided to save some money by buying cheap notebooks and decorating them myself. Since I really liked how they turned out, and since it's really easy to do, I decided to share this DIY with you.

    Hope you enjoy!

    Step one: Gather your materials!

    • Ruler
    • Pencil
    • Notebook
    • Eraser
    • Scissors
    • Glue
    • Tape or Mod Podge
    • Magazines

    Step two: Start cutting!
This DIY is basically a collage made out of triangles so the first thing you want to do is decide how big you want your triangles to be. Then go ahead and measure and then cut the first one from the cover of the magazine (I recommend using the cover as this will be your tracing triangle and the cover is sturdier than the pages). Now look through the magazine and choose patterns, colours or images that you like. Place your triangle on the image and trace it with your pencil. Cut it out and repeat this step until you have a good amount of triangles (the number you need varies depending on the size of your notebook and your triangles).

    Step three: Organise!

Once you've got all your triangles decide how you want to place them on your notebook before you start glueing them.

    Step four: Glue!

This step is pretty self explanatory: glue the triangles in place.

    Step five: Finish off!

Cover the notebook with either the tape or the Mod Podge to keep everything in place and make it more resistant.

on this notebook I put the tape on really badly so it kind of ruined it :(

    Optional bonus!

It's also a great idea to decorate the back cover using washi tape. Not to mention that you can use other shapes instead of triangles.

Front cover of a notebook I decorated using the same method only with strips instead of triangles.

Back cover of the third notebook.

Don't get me wrong, I love autumn. Snuggling under a cozy blanket, drinking hot chocolate, watching old disney movies, layering sweaters, spice scented candles, crunchy leaves. All those glorious little things. However, I'm having a really hard time letting go of summer. These few months of relaxation have been holy and I'm not looking forward to giving them up and starting school again.

This year I've had the best holidays and I think it's better to think back to the memories I've made rather than the upcoming school year.  So here are my summer highlights:

    New York City

    New York City

    New York City

    Colosseum (Rome)- Playing Tourist

    Sardinia

    Greece

    A Birthday Celebration

    6:13 PM
Some of the small gifts I received

I'm not the type of person that starts counting down the days till their birthday months ahead. In fact, I'm not even the type of person that likes birthdays. So, when a couple of days before my 16th birthday my best friend told me, "I'm planning your birthday and it's going to be so amazing!" I panicked.
"No. Please don't plan anything. You know I hate birthday parties. I just want to hang out with you alone and chill, nothing crazy!" She simply laughed at me and shook her head and said, "It's nothing crazy. You're going to love it, I swear."

And as always, she was absolutely right.

The day started out like any perfect day does. Being woken up by your best friend holding a tray of homemade cake pops... yum! After this wonderful breakfast my friend handed me two little gifts: one an adorable small glass bottle and the other a lavender soap all the way from holland! At this point we were ready to hit the town.

The small glass bottle and the lavender soap

My best friend, Anna- it's better if you learn her name at this point, took charge and I followed. The first place she brought me took me a bit by surprise; it was our old kindergarden school.
"This is the place where almost 13 years ago we first met and become best friends," she quickly explained while handing me another present.

The rest of the day, as you might have guessed, was spent touring around the city stopping at 16 significant places from our childhood together. At each stop I was given yet another gift (all of which I loved) and a speech explaining the importance of the location.

It was honestly one of the best days ever and I'm so grateful to have a friend who cares about me so much as to organise this whole thing. She spoils me!

We ended the evening with a movie (The Fault in Our Stars- which is amazing and everyone should go see) and dinner with my family.

It was really a lovely day.
